Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishers
Wet Chemical fire extinguishers are designed primarily to deal with Class F fires, but also carry a Class A fire rating. Class F fires are fire involving cooking oils and fats. Wet chemical fire extinguishers are common place in restaurants, cafes, mobile food vans, fish and chip shops and any other commercial kitchen setting.
The Chemical within a ‘Wet Chem’ is Potassium and is discharged as a fine spray onto burning oils or fat. This spray creates a film of foam which smothers the fire, starving it of oxygen to extinguish. The mist also creates a cooling effect.
